We are winners!
We are delighted to announce that we have just won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise! Find out more about what this means for us, what winning this award has taught us and what the future holds for Cunningham Covers in this new post.
What is it?
The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise is one of the UK’s most prestigious awards, given to companies for outstanding achievements in the categories of innovation, international trade, sustainable development and promoting opportunity through social mobility. We have received it because of our unique and innovative clever protective covers and our extensive achievements in exporting successfully to global markets.
Why have we won?
We have always been proud of our position as market leader in the made to measure tarpaulin industry, and this award recognises our success in designing, manufacturing and marketing an extensive range of clever protective covers for various industries which are exported and used across the world.
One particular highlight is our slurry store covers, which are designed specifically for keeping rain off, and keeping odours and ammonia in. This system has been fully approved, tried and tested and is in use in applications throughout Europe. Our protective covers for pipelines also helped to secure our success in this award category. In addition, our outstanding year-on-year growth in overseas sales was also a major contributing factor to our winning this prestigious accolade.
What happens now?
We’re so excited about the next stage – now that we have won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, we are invited to a Royal reception at Buckingham Palace, hosted by Her Majesty The Queen. We’ll update you after the awards ceremony to tell you how it went!
What has winning this award taught us?
- Our continuous investment in innovation is why we can satisfy the needs of an ever-changing marketplace.
- We need to continue our strategic focus in our home market and abroad in order to expand, challenge ourselves and continue our growth trajectory.
- Our employees are our best assets, and continuing to encourage, train and develop each individual to build a dedicated and versatile workforce will allow us a greater competitive advantage in responding quickly to new trends and customer requests.
What’s next for us?
We’re not one to rest on our laurels, so the future looks very busy indeed for us. We have developed innovative products used in operations as far apart as the Caspian Sea and Africa’s Ivory Coast, so we’ll be looking forward to exploring further diversification in all sectors. We see opportunities to expand our product range in transportation, manufacturing, education, farming and the food sectors where the use of clever protective covers for the protection of high value assets is a must.
